Proper daily operation and scheduled routine maintenance are essential for maximizing the operational efficiency, safety, and service life of heavy-duty concrete mixer trucks. Regular upkeep not only minimizes expensive downtime on construction sites but also helps safeguard the integrity of high-value mechanical and hydraulic components over years of continuous duty.
1. Daily Cleaning and Drum Maintenance
Immediate Rinsing After Discharge: Always wash out the drum interior with clean water immediately after unloading concrete. Preventing cement buildup on the internal mixing blades preserves optimal mixing performance and capacity.
External Body Cleaning: Clean the discharge chute, hopper, and drum exterior daily to avoid hardened concrete accumulation that can wear down paint and promote rust formation.
2. Hydraulic System Inspection & Fluid Management
Hydraulic Oil Levels: Inspect the hydraulic oil tank level prior to daily shifts. Ensure fluid levels remain within the recommended range using clean, correct-viscosity hydraulic oil.
Component Inspections: Periodically examine the hydraulic pump, motor, and planetary reducer for signs of fluid leakage, abnormal vibration, or unusual operating temperatures.
3. Mechanical Greasing and Drive Line Upkeep
Lubrication Points: Apply heavy-duty grease to key friction points, including the drum support rollers, main bearing, and drive shaft universal joints at least once every week or per manufacturer intervals.
Reducer Maintenance: Replace the gear lubricant in the drum planetary reducer according to the manufacturer's specified service hours to reduce mechanical friction and heat buildup.
4. Chassis and Brake System Safety Checks
Tyre and Brake Care: Monitor tyre pressure and tread wear regularly, especially given the heavy payload conditions typical of ready-mix transit. Routinely inspect air brake lines and drain water from the air tanks daily.
Fastener Tightness: Regularly check wheel nuts, u-bolts, and frame mounting bolts to ensure proper torque levels under heavy load operations.
